Voluntary and Community Sector Development Partner

1.2. Barnet Council is committed to working in partnership with the voluntary, community and faith sector to build resilient communities. Resilient communities are where people work together to achieve the outcomes they want, empowering each other to galvanise community strengths, make best use of local knowledge and instil a sense of shared ownership and collective responsibility for their area.
1.3. In 2015, a Charter was developed by the council and the VCS as a guide for how we want to work together. In 2015, Barnet Council signed up to the All Party Parliamentary Group on Faith’s Covenant in partnership with the Barnet Multi Faith Forum to demonstrate how Barnet’s faith groups are an equal strategic partner to its community and voluntary groups.
1.4. Within this context, Barnet Council tendered for a voluntary sector development partner contract in 2015 to continue to support the key role that the voluntary, community and faith sector play in the delivery of the vision for the future of the borough, as outlined in the corporate plan. The current voluntary sector development partner contract is now in its third year and suppliers have delivered good outcomes.
1.5. As the Council looks further ahead, Barnet Council is again seeking to involve the voluntary, community and faith sector in Barnet and to ensure the sector’s continued sustainability and resilience.
1.6. As a result, the council is now looking to procure a new voluntary sector support package, that has been shaped in partnership with the local voluntary, community and faith sector.
